See https://www.lhvc.com/#:~:text=Elise%20Marylander%2C%20who%20has%20served,Bruce%20Warren%2C%20who... Ally of the Wandering Jellyfish spoke; the WJ is closing their doors in early Dec and she noted she loves Niwot and is sad to leave. Eric noted that the NBA is supporting many events in Niwot. He noted that Angela Hudgins is really helping the NBA and Niwot. Please look to her as a resource, as she is learning more and more over the days and weeks. Eric noted that currently he is spending much of his time for the NBA with the Niwot Master Plan and he will be presenting this soon to the whole NBA. He would like feedback and thoughts from the NBA. Eric noted the NBA is getting ready for 2024! Eric asked if there were questions, and then handed the meeting to Mary Coonce to direct the rest of the meeting. Mary Coonce noted that the NBA every year goes through a reconciliation process to learn what events have been best received by the NBA businesses and by the community. Revenue for events is from NBA membership and from revenue from Rock & Rails. Expenses for 2024 are for insurance, upkeep of 2nd Ave and Cottonwood Square, etc. This year, there were additional expenses incuding signage in Niwot and updated Holiday Decorations. . Mary asked for feedback about what events the NBA wants, wants to come back, wants to never come back…..etc. Mary noted that despite inflation, sales tax revenue has been stable in 2022 to 2023. Mary talked about any event needs a champion. Questions were asked about Jazz Fest and Oktoberfest. The Find Waldo event was not successful. The Cottonwood Square concerts had moderate success. Dancing Under the Stars was successful. Mary noted that vendors for the Honeybee Festival, Flower Fest, and a few others paid for themselves, which is great. Michael Tomich of Old Oak Coffeehouse asked for feedback about the 2nd Ave concerts and the Houseblend Band and the NBA attendees applauded. Members noted they loved having young musicians at this event. Angela Hudgins gave out flyers with the 2023 and 2024 planned NBA events and festivals. See niwot.com for more information. Skyla at La Musette will be doing the Williglia Polish Holiday Dinner…yay! Biff Warren noted that Anne Postle could not be here tonight, but that First Friday will now be quarterly, with a few extra dates in Summer months. Alison Steele noted that tthe NCAA has a bench dedication for Bert Steele on Dec 16 at 3pm and they are looking for donations for the bench and a wrestling scholarship for a high school student. Read about this in the courier! The budget is $5000 and all additional proceeds will be going to the scholarship Holiday cards from the Grange are available. See https://niwothistoricalsociety.org/2023/11/08/happy-holidays/ Nancy Bureau noted that NBA Elections will be in February 2024. Ballots have been sent via email. NBA Members like have a paper directory (the question was asked and the members present wanted this.) Angela Hudgins spoke about the NBA website. If you have questions about how to update your Angela showed the bag that is being given out at Holiday Parade. This bag will be given to attendees and will have a $5 coin to use in NBA businesses. This will improve shopping on that day! In January, the state of Colorado will have every business will have to use reusable shopping bags. Biff Warren spoke about 2 tree sculptures on Niwot Rd that will be taken down and renovated. Read more here https://www.lhvc.com/story/2023/11/15/news/tree-carvings-to-be-removed-for-restoration/8571.html These sculptures are Cheyenne Holy Man and Eagle Catcher. There is a large bronze Native America sculpture that is in the Sculpture Park and the NCAA would like to purchase it and have it stay in the Park. If you would like to donate to this, please contact Biff Warren. The sculptures in Sculpture Park are there all on loan from various artists. Meeting adjourned 6:50p.nb |
