The February meeting was a success! Notes are here! ————-

The meeting was opened by Eric Bergeson. He thanked Slifer, Smith & Frampton DRF Realty for hosting. The offices are beautifully appointed and the food offered was amazing.

Joel Ripmaster of Slifer Smith & Frampton spoke and noted  he loves this town. He noted his family lives in Niwot. Niwot has the charm and sweetness to have a Colorado feeling. He noted when Boulder and Longmont do their own things, Niwot stays steady and holds to its values. He welcomed the NBA

Eric asked Nancy Bureau to announce the election results. Nancy announced that Eric Bergeson will be President and Deb Fowler will be Vice President and Mary Coonce will be Treasurer and Nancy Bureau will be Secretary.

The NBA Exec Board thanked Eric Bergeson for being the President. He works hard for the NBA and for Niwot.

Eric asked for new guests and Alex from 303 Photo Booth introduced himself. https://www.facebook.com/303PhotoBooth/ He has done events for Deb and Janine Malcolm  of Natural Med encouraged him to join the NBA.

Hadley Solomon of the NHSEF spoke. She has lived in Niwot for 15 years, has served on many school boards and she and her family have been lucky to be in Niwot.  NHSEF has a mission to encourage the next steps in educational experience. NHSEF is 40 yr old and distributes grants to teachers to have funds for school and they award 3 scholarships to senior students of $2K and last year they raised funds for this through their online auction and were able to provide 7 scholarships with the $25k  raised last year from this. She will leave fliers so people can participate as either buyers or to contribute. One way to help with this is to buy a gift certificate from another business and NHSEF will put your business logo and info with that auctionable gift certificate.

Eric noted that there is a bit of a dip in income in the NBA due to downturns after COVID. Eric noted the NBA is staying flat in its budget due to this expectation. The number of events will stay the same. Marketing budgets will be less by about $11k, and those funds will mostly be pushed toward digital advertising. Additionally the NBA is working on ways to help  businesses with the 7% annually til to $25/hr in 2030.  The NBA is working on having at least a pause on this. A task force has been assembled with Steve from Garden Gate, Tony Santelli, Alison from Niwot Market and Nick from 1914 House and others.

Eric answered questions about the minimum wage increase.

Biff Warren spoke about Rock & Rails and the need for the NBA members to volunteer for this. There will be 13 concerts this summer and the start will be May 30th and there will be no concert on July 4th. Alison Steele will be asking NBA members to work the front gate for 2 hr shifts for each Thursday. There will be an email going out to Niwot based non profit groups to see if they want to be recipients of the tip jars each of the Rock & Rails groups. If you know of a non profit that wants to join this, have them email Biff Warren. At the end of the year, the profits of Rock & Rails get divided to the NCA and the NBA. This is literally 1/2 of the NBA budget. ROCK & RAILS NEEDS YOU!!!! Satir Demarco spoke about the bands LOVE to come to Niwot, and still She noted that the people at the front gate set the tone for the experience of people visiting, and Rock & Rails pays the NBA back for this.
Anne Postle spoke about Wine About Winter and organizing it is going well. Join in the fun! Proceeds go to support the parks in Niwot. Over 600 people are expected to come to this event. Kristina will post a jpeg on SM that businesses can print out as a poster.
