Eric Bergeson introduced Catherine McHale, marketing expert, and she spoke. The aim is to make the BEST of what you do. Her goal is to help small businesses. To keep marketing successful, you need to know your
-strategy…where is your business going? This is big picture items and thoughts.
-consistency…how are you talking and communicating so that the same message is going out over and over? This is the continual input of information that gets info to your clients. This can be the hardest piece and is the focus of this discussion.
-opportunity…maybe this is an event or a campaign

The hardest part for most businesses is  consistency. For consistency, thinking about your STAR qualities is a great starting place. What makes people know about your business? It’s not just the product you slll or the service you offer, but also the message you want to give. Think about Volvo….it’s a car, and we all think “safety” when we think of this. She gave examples. Think of main categories ….what are the key words that represent what you want to sell? Safety? Ease of use? Functionality? Beauty? Helpfulness? This can help start your advertising…posting about these representations can help your business. What are you special in? Focus on this for your advertising and this will help with your consistency.
Next, ask how are you moving the above 3 things forward? Come up with a 1 page marketing plan. Even if it is things like making sure the website is updated monthly or a social media post once weekly or twice monthly. This plan helps to keep your business on track.
