NBA Meeting Notes November 2024

The November Meeting had exciting announcements! Notes are BELOW!

————-

Eric Bergeson opened the NBA meeting by thanking Niwot United Methodist Church. Emily Kintzel thanked the NBA for allowing NUMC to host and discussed the history of NUMC. NUMC has been part of Niwot for 154 years! While currently the Church is in Gunbarrel, it began at 304 Franklin, where Left Hand Animal Hospital is, and then moved to the middle of 119, and then moved again. Please check out upcoming events at https://www.niwotumc.org/!
Mary Coonce  the NBA Treasurer noted that the NBA is doing great financially!  Mary talked about part of her job is to collect memebership dues and other parts are to act as “bank” for the NBA and disperse funds and collect funds back from Boulder County. She noted NBA Elections are coming up and she is NOT going to run for NBA Treasurer again. Amy Chang has agreed to run for NBA Treasurer and has been working with Mary to learn about the position.

Eric noted that in meeting with Boulder County that there will be an updated crosswalk and signage at 119 to help with traffic at Niwot Rd and 119. Eric also noted that he wants to tie Boulder Unincorporated minimum wage with the LOWEST increases in the county, and he and the NBA Exec are continuing to work toward that. A letter has been sent to each of you to please reach out to Boulder County Commisioners to ask that the minimum wage NOT be increased for 2025. Please send a letter!
Eric noted that NBA Elections are coming!  Eric Bergeson is NOT going to run for NBA President, and Jim Ditzel has expressed interest in becoming the NBA President. Eric introduced Jim and he spoke. He is a local real estate broker and has his hand on the pulse of commercial real estate. He noted keeping the minimum wage where it is is one of his goals, and he looks forward to working with the NBA and local businesses more. Jim has experience on many boards, and as part of the Niwot Futures League.
Eric introduced Tucker Huey as possibly interested in the NBA Secretary position. He has fresh new ideas to bring to the NBA Executive Board.  Nancy (me!) is not going to run for NBA Secretary for 2025.
Niwot Wellness Event Jan 25 is going to happen!  Patti Ashley is championing this. (THANKS TO PATTI!)If you are interested in Please join in the activities 10-4p at the Left Hand Grange/Niwot Hall. Entry for a booth is FREE for NBA Members! If you choose to join in, you can have a booth or table and tell people about what you do, demonstrate your skills, and sell your products. Join in th fun!
Eric introduced new NBA Members.
Jim Dorvee presented about the Left Hand Grange. He wanted to cover 2 things about Left Hand Grange  including a name change and creating an outdoor space here to encourage Niwotians to use this as a community space. The name will change to Niwot Hall. This building was built in 1907 and it was Nelson Hall  originally and then it became Left Hand Grange Inc and now will become Niwot Hall. Niwot Hall will be a 501c and this allows grants and additonal funding to be accessed. To keep the history, the current signage will be moved to the side of the building.  There will be a focus on having weddings and events here at Niwot Hall and it will encourage people to use Niwot businesses. If ceremonies are at Whistlestop Park and celebrations are at Niwot Hall, the florist and spa services in town and the restaurants in town will get additional business, as will coffee shops, retail stores, etc.   To encourage community to utilize Niwot Hall, Fleetmeyer and Lee created an outdoor option and Jim wants feedback on the outdoor space. The current firehouse will be sold/moved and storage will be added and a patio that can accomodate up to 210 people. Landscaping and improved drainage will be added. In time, a bump out to add space will happen. Please send an email to Jim Dorvee at [email protected] if you or your organization (Scouts, etc) have feedback. Niwot Hall has started to acquire funding and you are welcome to donate! Watch for upcoming fundraisers. Jim spoke that all parties would like to have this project submitted for plans in 2025’s first quarter.
