Niwot Native Art Market

Discover the artistry and traditions of Native artists and Indigenous communities at the Niwot Native American Art Market, hosted by the Niwot Community Arts Association in partnership with Create áYA – a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Native creatives. See a list of participating artists below.
The family-friendly market will feature handmade creations from talented Native artists, offering a unique opportunity to explore and purchase a diverse range of works – including paintings, beadwork, jewelry and comic books. It will highlight established Native artists but also will welcome emerging Indigenous artists, providing them a place to share and sell their art.
Native artisans will have booths to display and sell their wares – helping attendees to connect directly with the artists and experience the rich traditions and contemporary artistry of Indigenous communities.

Participating Artists

• Kristina Maldonado Bad Hand (Sicangu Lakota/Cherokee) and Rafael Maldonado Bad Hand (Nahua).Kristina and Rafael are with Create áYA and are helping to co-sponsor this event with the NCAA.
• Tom Myer (Hodinǫ̱hsǫ́:nih/Ngäbe-Buglé). He works digitally and is heavily influenced by Native mythology, science fiction, and pop culture.
• Harry Teller (Navajo). Harry is a silversmith and creates gorgeous earrings and other jewelry.
• Marie Yellowhawk (Navajo). Marie is a beadworker who draws on her Navajo heritage to create stunning and intricate designs.
• Apashee Art (Apache/Navajo). Apashee Art is an Indigenous, LGBTQ artist known for their unique ink and character design art, blending cultural heritage with bold, contemporary expression.
• Nico Strange Owl (Northern Cheyenne)/ Nico runs Eagle Plume’s Trading Post just outside Estes Park.
• Dustin Wolf (Northern Cheyenne)/ Dustin is an oil painter, wood carver, and mask maker.
• Rod Velarde (Jicarilla Apache). Rod calls his art Native Pop – his work is heavily influenced by Star Wars and Marvel Comics.
• Starr Vipi Arens (Hawaiian). Starr is inspired by nature, space, and everyday joys.
